JAPANESE GOVERNMENT DELEGATION ANNOUNCEMENT

On Tuesday 18 July 2000 at 10:00, the New Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Mr Yushu Takashima, will be 
meeting the MEC for Education in the Eastern Cape, Mr Stone Sizani. Details of the third phase of the school building programme currently 
being funded by JICA will be announced.

The meeting will take place at the Department of Education Head offices (Tyamzashe Building, Bisho) in the Conference Room on the 2nd 
floor.

Media representatives are invited to attend this important meeting.

The resident representative of JICA in South Africa, Mr Yoshiyuki Takahashi will accompany Mr Takashima.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) committed $15 million for the first two phases involving 23 schools in phase one and 22 
schools in phase two. The project is being developed in the eastern and north-eastern regions of the Eastern Cape Province.

After the meeting, Mr Takashima will be visiting project schools in the Umtata area.
